Vgethi in Attica is a protected reef dive with excellent visibility, rich marine life, and a flexible profile suitable for different certification levels.
Dive Overview
Vgethi is often the best alternative dive site when strong southern winds affect the more popular diving locations of Attica.
However, this is far more than just a backup option. The site offers beautiful underwater scenery, abundant marine life, and excellent visibility, making it a dive many divers quickly return to regardless of weather conditions.
The reef structure, calm conditions in southern winds, and manageable depth profile create an enjoyable dive for a wide range of divers.
Entry & Conditions
Park carefully at the designated point and ensure enough space remains for vehicles to pass or turn around.
Carry your equipment to the rocky shoreline and prepare your gear there.
The site has no facilities, but access to the water is relatively straightforward.
Surface conditions can vary, and currents are possible in the area.
What You ‘ll See
After entering the water and completing your buddy checks, assess the current conditions.
If a strong current is present — something relatively common in the area — it is recommended to perform a surface swim toward the reef before descending.
Alternatively, divers can follow an underwater route, with compass navigation proving very useful.
The reef hosts abundant marine life and usually offers very good visibility.
Take your time exploring the smaller details of the reef, as nudibranch encounters are common.

The site allows divers to easily adapt the dive profile according to certification level and personal preference.
