Kalogria Beach Dive Site, Halkidiki

May 27, 2026

Crystal-clear water, shallow reefs full of marine life, and dramatic underwater walls make Kalogria Beach one of the most popular dive sites in Northern Greece.

Dive Overview

Kalogria Beach is widely considered one of the signature shore dives of Halkidiki and among the best-known recreational dives in Northern Greece.

Located inside a naturally protected bay, the site combines calm turquoise water, excellent visibility, easy access, and a surprising variety of underwater terrain.

The dive begins gently in shallow sandy water around a small rocky islet before transitioning into steep walls and deeper formations on the outer side of the reef.

Because of its combination of easy entry and optional deeper sections, the site is suitable for divers of many experience levels.

Entry & Conditions

Access is straightforward via a dirt road leading close to the beach.

During the summer months, parking can become extremely difficult due to the popularity of the area.

Divers usually prepare their equipment directly on the sandy beach. A mat or towel is useful to keep equipment away from the sand.

Entry is made from the beach as close to the small islet as possible.

Conditions are generally calm because the bay is protected from strong winds, making the site suitable for long and relaxed dives.

What You’ll See

The dive starts with a swim toward the small rocky islet.

Although many divers choose to surface swim to the reef, an underwater approach is highly recommended.

The shallow section between the beach and the islet rarely exceeds 4–5 meters depth but is packed with marine life and macro subjects hidden among rocks and vegetation.

Once you move to the outer side of the reef, the landscape changes dramatically.

Steep rocky formations descend into deeper blue water with depths reaching approximately 28 meters.

Divers can choose shallow exploration around the reef or continue deeper depending on certification level and comfort.

The combination of shallow light-filled sections and deeper dramatic walls creates a very versatile dive profile.

Important Consideration

  • Extremely busy during summer months
  • Parking can be difficult
  • Sandy beach entry — protect equipment from sand
  • Boat traffic possible near the surface during high season

Depth Profile

The shallow reef begins at 4–5 meters depth, while the outer walls descend gradually to approximately 28 meters.

Tips for Divers

  • Excellent site for underwater photography and macro life
  • Early morning dives offer calmer conditions and easier parking
  • Use the shallow reef for long relaxed bottom times
  • Explore the outer wall only within your certification limits
  • Great site for mixed groups of divers and snorkelers
