Kanapitsa dive site in Skopelos offers a dramatic deep wall dive with rich marine life and open blue-water encounters in a sheltered bay.
Dive Overview
Kanapitsa is a beautiful and protected dive site featuring impressive underwater topography and significant depth.
Although located relatively close to the coastline, access is only possible by boat, as there is no road leading to the area. This keeps the site quiet and largely untouched.
The dive combines a large plateau, steep drop-offs, and blue-water exposure, making it ideal for divers seeking both structure and pelagic activity.
Entry & Conditions
The area is generally well protected from weather, especially during southern winds, making it a reliable anchoring spot in most conditions.
Entry is standard from a boat.
Non-divers can enjoy swimming in the clear waters nearby or visit more organized beaches such as Panormos Beach and Limnonari Beach, located at a short distance.
What You ‘ll See
Below the entry point lies a large plateau at around 18 meters.
From there, head southwest until you reach the edge of the plateau. After crossing it, turn east and follow the natural contours of the seabed, forming a wide circular route back toward your starting point.
The site quickly transitions into deeper sections, offering a classic wall dive experience.
While following the wall, keep an eye on the blue — the area often hosts passing marine life.
At the same time, the reef itself supports a variety of smaller species, making this a balanced dive for both wide-angle and macro observation.
Occasional currents may be present and can become noticeable during the dive.
