Paradisos Dive Site, Volos

Apr 3, 2026

Paradisos dive site, located about 20 km from Volos, offers a relaxed shore dive with a rewarding reef hidden beyond a long sandy swim, ideal for divers who enjoy exploration.

Dive Overview

Paradisos is one of those dive sites where the journey is part of the experience. Located along a beautiful coastline, it combines an easy-going beach environment with a more adventurous underwater route.

After reaching the area and parking near the end of the road, divers carry their gear and walk south along the beach. The closer you get to the rocky section, the shorter your surface swim will be — otherwise, expect a longer swim to reach the dive site.

Entry & Conditions

The beach is sandy and spacious, making it perfect for non-divers as well. Nearby facilities allow for a comfortable day by the sea, whether you choose to use sunbeds or stay more minimal.

Entry is straightforward. After gearing up and completing your buddy check, begin a surface swim toward the reef. Since the distance is relatively long, it’s recommended to avoid descending too early over the sandy bottom.

For best results, descend midway and follow an underwater route at around 12 meters depth, keeping the shoreline on your left.

What You ‘ll See

After a few minutes underwater, at approximately 13 meters depth, the reef suddenly appears — large rock formations rising from the sandy seabed, breaking the monotony of sand and vegetation.

These rocks extend over a wide area, reaching depths of up to 30 meters and hosting a variety of marine life. The site is ideal for exploration, and it’s difficult to lose your orientation.

A common route is to circle the reef counterclockwise, but divers are free to explore as they wish.

You’ll encounter marine vegetation, spirorbid worms, schools of small fish, and occasionally old fishing nets that have blended into the environment.

As with most dives in the Pagasetic Gulf, reduced visibility is common, so awareness and good buddy communication are essential.

Important Consideration

  • Long surface swim
  • Reduced visibility
  • Fishing nets

Depth Profile

The dive typically starts with a descent around 12–13 meters, with the reef extending down to approximately 30 meters.

Tips for divers

  • Avoid descending too early over the sandy bottom
  • Use the shoreline as a navigation reference
  • Stay close to your buddy, especially in low visibility
  • Begin your return at 100 bar to ensure a relaxed and safe exit
  • Use the shallow return path (~5m) for your safety stop

Why this dive stands Out

Paradisos stands out for its hidden reef and exploratory nature. The contrast between the sandy approach and the sudden appearance of large rock formations makes it a rewarding dive for those willing to put in the extra swim.
