Located along a beautiful pebble beach in Pelion, Paou is a lesser-known dive site that offers both relaxing surface conditions and a straightforward underwater route.
The beach takes its name from the nearby monastery and remains relatively uncrowded, making it ideal for divers looking for a calm and laid-back experience.
After parking where the road meets the beach, head toward the left side to begin your dive.
Entry & Conditions
The entry is easy from a pebble beach. After setting up your equipment and completing your checks, enter the water and swim toward the rocky area on the left side.
Once you reach the rocks, descend and begin your dive.
There are no nearby facilities, so plan ahead and bring any necessary supplies if you intend to stay for an extended time.
What You ‘ll See
Swimming straight out from the shore, you will soon encounter rock formations that gradually form a wall.
Turn left and continue your dive with the shoreline on your left shoulder. The wall deepens progressively, exceeding 34 meters in some sections, but divers can easily remain at shallower depths if preferred.
On your return, the shallower rocky areas closer to the shore offer a pleasant environment for exploration and a relaxed safety stop.
