Lefteris Gorgonians Dive Site, Magnesia

May 14, 2026

Lefteris Gorgonians is a deep reef dive in Magnesia featuring large rock formations, impressive gorgonian fields, and dramatic underwater scenery.

Dive Overview

While attempting to approach the “Volos”wreck from a different direction, we discovered an impressive area filled with gorgonians and large isolated rock formations.

Compared to the other dives around the reef, this route extends farther away from the main structure and into deeper sections.

During the dives conducted for this guide, currents were relatively mild. However, the area is known for changing conditions, and if stronger currents are present, another dive site on the reef may be a better choice.

Access is only possible by boat.

Entry & Conditions

The site is exposed to changing sea conditions, and currents are common in the wider area. It is strongly recommended to have someone remain on the boat during the dive in case weather conditions change.

Non-divers can still enjoy snorkeling around the shallow sections of the reef, which offer beautiful underwater scenery even near the surface.

Prepare your equipment on the boat — or ideally before boarding — and enter the water together as a group.

Swim toward the side of the lighthouse facing mainland Magnesia and descend heading north.

What You ‘ll See

After reaching the wall, descend and turn left.

Follow the natural underwater terrain while exploring between large rock formations and gorgonian fields.

The gorgonians begin appearing from around 30 meters depth, creating an impressive deep-reef landscape.

The site offers dramatic underwater topography, combining vertical relief with open blue-water exposure.

Closer to the lighthouse, the reef rises to shallower depths between 4 and 6 meters, creating an ideal area for a relaxed safety stop.

Important Consideration
