Potoki Dive Site, Pelion

Mar 3, 2026

Potoki dive site in Pelion is a shallow and scenic shore dive, ideal for beginners or anyone looking for a relaxed and well-lit underwater experience.

Dive Overview

Potoki is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches in South Pelion, located a few kilometers from the village of Sykia near Argalasti.

With no commercial development, the area maintains its wild character, offering a peaceful setting for both swimming and diving. The site is especially suitable for Open Water divers or those who prefer shallow, easy dives.

After parking, you’ll need to carry your gear approximately 80 meters toward the left side of the beach. The large pebbles and a small stream crossing the path can make access slightly challenging.

Entry & Conditions

The beach is stunning but completely unorganized, with no facilities such as showers or shops. Make sure to bring everything you need for your stay.

Entry is straightforward. After gearing up and completing your buddy check, take a compass bearing from shore if available.

Swim approximately 30 meters to the left, passing a small cove, until you reach the next rocky section — this is your starting point.

What You ‘ll See

This dive is all about relaxed exploration. There is no wall or fixed route, allowing you to freely navigate among impressive rock formations that rise almost to the surface.

Due to fishing activity in the area, marine life is relatively limited compared to other sites. However, the shallow depth and clear Aegean water create bright and visually appealing conditions.

It’s an excellent spot for underwater photography, especially for wide-angle shots and natural light compositions.

Important Consideration

  • No facilities
  • Carrying gear over uneven terrain
  • Limited marine life
  • Navigation without clear reference points

Depth Profile

The dive remains shallow throughout, with a maximum depth of approximately 17 meters.

Tips for divers

  • Keep the shoreline on your left for navigation
  • Decide in advance whether to turn based on time or air consumption
  • Use the shallow 5m depth for a relaxed safety stop
  • Ideal site for photography due to lighting conditions
